Tag Festival Season Kicks Off Next Saturday

Budweiser Tag’s Festival season starts with a splash next Saturday (June 7) when Rugbaí Corca Dhuibhne (Dingle RFC) host the first Beach Tag event at Muiríoch Beach, Ballydavid in Dingle, County Kerry.

At the beach, players and spectators alike can expect a sizzling BBQ, chilled drinks and a soundtrack of summer tunes played by a live DJ.

All the Budweiser Tag Festivals are OPEN. This means that no qualification is necessary.

Nor does your team need to be already registered in any of the other Budweiser Tag leagues. Tag approved shorts (by any manufacturer) will be necessary however as Tag belts are not permitted.

Entries will be allocated on a first come first served basis but best hurry, as places are filling fast!

Following next week’s event, there are three more Beach Tag festivals and they are at Omey Beach, Clifden (hosted by Connemara RFC) on June 21, Inchydoney, County Cork (hosted by Clonakilty RFC) on July 5 and then Old Bawn Beach, Courtown, Gorey, County Wexford (hosted by Gorey RFC) on July 12.

On top of this are the Provincial and All-Ireland Open Festivals. The Connacht Provincials are on June 14 at Westport RFC in County Mayo. Ulster’s Provincial championship takes place on June 21 at the wonderful facilities at Bangor RFC.

Leinster and Munster have theirs on the same date which is June 28. The Leinster Provincials at Suttonians RFC and Munster’s are at Clonmel RFC.

Again, these events are OPEN and the winners of each grade come away with the title of Budweiser Tag Provincial or All-Ireland Open champions!

Damien Browne, the venue manager at the Dingle Beach Tag Festival, said: “Budweiser Tag Festivals are a great way to get out on the summer weekends, test your Tag rugby skills and enjoy a bottle of bud with your team-mates and friends.

“Judging by the weather over the last couple of weeks, we’ll have blue skies but come rain or shine anyway, it’ll be a lot of fun for any teams who make the trips to these festivals.”
