Ireland left it late to confirm their place in Sunday’s 9th-10th place play-off at the IRB Junior World Championship. Ian Porter’s penalty in the last minute of extra-time secured a 9-6 win over Italy for the Irish, who will face Scotland in their final match of the tournament.
Speaking in the aftermath of the Italian game, Ireland Under-20 captain Paul Ryan discussed his side’s 9-6 play-off win over Italy at the IRB Junior World Championship.
The Leinster flanker also reflected on Ireland’s run of results at the tournament to date and talked about what he expects in their final match – Sunday’s 9th-10th place play-off against Scotland.

“It wasn’t the best of games. I think the guys were afraid to make mistakes and express themselves. It was one of those games where territory was king but it was great that we came out on top in the end.”
