Ulster have confirmed details of their third pre-season friendly fixture, which will be against a touring Queensland Reds side at Ravenhill on Friday, August 22 (7.30pm).
Super 14 outfit Queensland will be stopping in Belfast as part of an Irish tour and their match forms part of a pre-season programme of matches for Ulster that also includes games against Premiership giants Bath and Worcester on August 12 and 27 respectively.
This is not the first time Ulster have hosted a Super 14 side – in February 2005 the South African Blue Bulls played at Ravenhill and although defeated then, Ulster will now aim to play a fast-paced Southern Hemisphere style of rugby under coach Matt Williams against the Brisbane based Reds.
Clinton Schifcofske’s speed off the mark and accurate goal-kicking will be missed by the Reds after his recent move to Ulster.
While, the Irish-qualified Ed Donoghue will also be out to prove himself against his former club, in his role as Justin Harrison’s replacement as lock.
Tickets for the Queensland Reds fixture are competitively priced with adult ground tickets available for just £10.
2008/09 Ulster Season Ticket holders will get the first opportunity to purchase these with a special release available exclusively to them, from July 21, for one week only.
Season Ticket holders can purchase their tickets over the Ravenhill counter and on the Ravenhill ticket line (tel: 02890493222) between 9am and 5pm from Monday, July 21 to Friday, July 25.
Tickets will go on general sale from July 28 and will be available to all supporters over the phone, online at the Ulster Rugby website, at the counter and at SS Moores in Chichester Street, Belfast.
