IRFU Annual Report Now Available

The Irish Rugby Football Union Annual Report for season 2007/2008 is now available to download. It was presented at the Union’s recent annual Council Meeting.

The IRFU Annual Report for the 2007/08 season is now available to download from IrishRugby.ie. The report was presented at the Council Meeting, which took place in June.

The contents of the report include the President’s Report, from the outgoing Der Healy, the Honorary Treasurer’s Report from Tom Grace and the Chief Executive’s Report from Philip Browne, as well as the accounts for the season.

In presenting the report, outgoing IRFU President Der Healy summarised the season of his presidency and mentioned the challenges facing the game at grassroots such as player retention and improving facilities.

He also paid thanks to the clubs by saying: “I have no doubt that our club game is beginning to reinvent itself. In thanking all our club Presidents I particularly thank them for the courtesy and hospitality shown.”

IRFU Chief Executive Philip Browne commented: “You can never take anything for granted in sport and rugby is no exception. It has been a year of mixed emotions from the euphoria of Ireland v England in 2007 to the disappointment of the preformances in RWC 2007.

“And from the disappointment of the RBS 6 Nations 2008 to the excitement of Munster winning their second Heineken Cup and Leinster capturing the Magners League.”
