AIB League Fixtures Announced

The full fixture list for the 2008/09 AIB League has been revealed. Fixtures in all three divisions will kick off in October with reigning champions Cork Constitution at home to Terenure College on the first day.

Defending champions Cork Constitution will kick off their campaign at Temple Hill on Saturday, October 4 with a game against Terenure College RFC.

Perennial favourites Shannon will be on the road as they travel to Blackrock College RFC for their opening game in a repeat of the final of the AIB Cup which the Limerick club won last season.

Beaten finalists Garryowen are also on the road in the clash of the opening round when they travel to top four finishers Clontarf.

Newly-promoted Buccanneers get their season underway at Dubarry Park with a game against Dolphin, while Young Munster will travel to Ballymena for their first game back in the top flight.

In Division Two, Lansdowne will be aiming to bounce back and their campaign gets underway at home to UCC, while Greystones travel to Malone, who narrowly missed out on promotion last season.

Belfast Harlequins, who missed out on promotion by a single point, will open their campaign with a home game against Bective Rangers.

The two new teams in Division Two, Instonians and Bruff, get to replay their Division Three play-off final as they face each other on the opening day with Bruff looking for revenge over the only team to beat them last season.

Suttonians and Barnhall, dropping down from Division Two, face each other on the opening weekend in Division Three.

Queen’s University, who made a late dash for promotion last season, will open their campaign against Naas. Old Wesley will provide the opposition for the newly-promoted Portadown.

The semi-finals of the play-off stages will take place on Saturday, April 25 with the finals of all three divisions two weeks later on May 9.
