The first ever Budweiser Tag season at Mullingar RFC came to a close as its finals night and post-match party took place at the clubhouse amidst a great atmosphere
2008 has been the first of what looks like many a busy summer of Tag at the Westmeath club and what a success it was!
Not only were the ground and clubhouse buzzing with activity during what is normally a quiet time for any rugby club but money was raised over the weeks in aid of the North Westmeath Hospice. After the finals games had taken place, a cheque was presented to Doreen Moughty of the hospice by Dave Farrelly, the Mullingar venue manager to rapturous applause.
Next up, Mullingar RFC’s Brendan Leahy presented the winning captains, amongst which was Aubrey Pearson, skipper of the overall winning team, The Killer Bs their champions trophies.
To cap off the evening and indeed the great summer of Tag, the clubhouse was busy with revellers all toasting the league just completed and no doubt already looking forward to 2009!
