In Pics: Lansdowne Road Stadium Redevelopment

The construction of the new Lansdowne Road Stadium continues apace, with work ongoing on the project five-and-a-half days a week. Click on the link to see how the stadium looks currently.

The new Lansdowne Road Stadium is really beginning to take shape, and the Irish rugby team’s home for the future has come a long way since the demolition of the old ground took place between May and August of last year.

Commenting on the progress made so far, IRFU Chief Executive Philip Browne said: “Lansdowne Road and the development of the new stadium there is going fantastically well. I think we’re approaching a million man hours in terms of work on the site.

“The stadium is really out of the ground now. We’re up to the sixth floor, seventh floor level on both sides of the ground.

“Even going into what is effectively a building site, there is already a ‘wow’ factor. It is going to be an outstanding stadium and a stadium which Irish rugby will be very proud of.

“I am quite certain that it’s a place where international rugby players will want to play and not only our own international players but international rugby players from all over the world. So we’re very happy with the progress there.”
