Front Row Concerns For Connacht

Props Brett Wilkinson and Robbie Morris both picked up knocks in Connacht’s European Challenge Cup defeat to London Irish and could miss next Friday’s key Magners League clash with Edinburgh at the Sportsground.

Both Brett Wilkinson and Robbie Morris sustained injuries in the 27-10 loss to London Irish, prompting uncontested scrums towards the end of the game with back rower Colm Rigney propping down in the Connacht front row.

Connacht coach Michael Bradley said: “The next couple of days will be crucial. Brett was a doubt all last week but made it through so we are hoping for more of the same this week.

“The Edinburgh game is huge for us. We were disappointed we did not take our chances against London Irish but we need to bounce back straight away.”

London Irish captain Bob Casey expressed his satisfaction after his side came away from the Sportsground with a bonus point win.

“We’re happy because it was a pivotal game in the pool. We did fairly well in the set piece and it finished up in uncontested scrums,” said the Ireland international.

“It took our lads a while to adapt to the conditions but we had the backs to do some damage when we gave them some ball.

“I think this rubberstamps our Premiership form which has been fairly good.

“We’re only four points off the top of the table and I’d hope that can get better as we go on.”
