Gannon Back In Contention For Connacht

Connacht have announced a 24-man squad for their Magners League encounter with Edinburgh at the Sportsground on Friday (kick-off 6.30pm).

David Gannon has recovered from a troublesome calf injury to be included in the Connacht squad for the first time this season.

John Lyne is also included in the forwards following some very impressive performances for Galwegians in the AIB League.

In the backs, Mel Deane has also recovered from a hamstring injury to be included in the squad as Connacht aim to put some distance between themselves and Edinburgh in the Magners League table.

Amongst the players that are unavailable to the province due to inury are backs Liam Bibo (hamstring), Keith Matthews (calf), Conor O’Loughlin (hip) and Mike Roberts (calf), as well as flanker Ray Ofisa (hamstring).

Connacht’s next match after Edinburgh is a friendly tie with the Portugese national team.

The game been rescheduled at the request of the IRFU and Rugby Portugal. The game has been moved from Wednesday, November 5 to Sunday, November 9 (kick-off 6pm).

CONNACHT Squad (v Edinburgh): Backs (11) – Kieran Campbell, Fionn Carr, Mel Deane, Gavin Duffy, Andy Dunne, John Hearty, Ian Keatley, Frank Murphy, Troy Nathan, Daniel Riordan, Aidan Wynne.

Forwards (13) – Andrew Browne, Sean Cronin, Andrew Farley, Adrian Flavin, David Gannon, Ronan Loughney, John Lyne, Robbie Morris, John Muldoon, Johnny O’Connor, Colm Rigney, Michael Swift, Brett Wilkinson.
