Muldoon Joins Connacht’s Injury List

Connacht’s hopes of ending their 48-year winless run at Ravenhill on Friday night have been hit with the news that team captain John Muldoon is expected to be sidelined until late December.

John Muldoon has sustained a calf injury and as well as missing Friday’s crucial Magners League trip to Ulster, he is not expected to feature in next month’s back-to-back European Challenge Cup games against Italian outfit Rovigo.

The Connacht management are hopeful that the Portumna man will be fit to resume against Munster at the Sportsground on December 28.

Coincidentally, Connacht’s newest arrival, Samoan centre Niva Ta’auso, is also eyeing up the Munster match as his first outing for the province.

Ta’auso is still recovering from a broken arm he suffered playing back in New Zealand but has been able to train with his Connacht team-mates.

However, Michael Bradley is unlikely to risk Ta’auso and has admitted that the post-Christmas clash with the European champions is ‘a target’ for the 28-year-old.
