Congratulations are due to Buccaneers Public Relations Officer Michael Silke, one of the true gents of the AIB League, for his selection as a Volunteer award winner.
The Connacht Branch were delighted with the nomination of Michael Silke for the IRFU’s Volunteer Recognition award by Buccaneers.
A committed member of Buccaneers RFC, Michael has had a tremendous impact on the game in the midlands on both sides of the Shannon.
He can regularly be heard giving match updates on Midlands 103 radio, is always on hand with information about scores and players for the local and national media and never fails to provide detailed match previews and reporters for Buccs’ own website and various other media outlets.
He has also been a vital cog in the successful staging of the Ireland Under-20 Six Nations matches at Dubarry Park, Buccs’ home ground.
“The Volunteer Recognition award is a key initiative in rewarding volunteers who are the unsung heros of our rugby clubs,” said Martin Gallagher, Connacht’s Provincial Domestic Game Manager.
