The draw for the semi-finals of the AIB Cup and AIB Junior Cup took place on 2FM’s Sportsbag programme on Sunday morning. Former Leinster and Ireland prop Reggie Corrigan joined presenter Robbie Irwin in studio to make the draw live on air.
In the AIB Cup, giant killers Ballynahinch have earned a home draw, having beaten both Shannon and Galwegians on the road.
‘Hinch, the only AIB League Division Two club still in the running, will face former winners Garryowen on March 21 at Ballymacarn Park. This is only their second home game in the cup this season – they beat County Carlow at home the second round.
The other semi-final saw Young Munster drawn at home to Cork Constitution. Munsters have put out both UCC and UCD in recent rounds and will be keen to put one over on the reigning Division One champions Con, whom they beat at Temple Hill earlier in the season.
Constitution knocked out their Cork rivals Dolphin in the quarter-finals, having alrady accounted for Bruff and St. Mary’s College along the way.
Both games will be played on March 21 with the final due to be televised live by RTE on April 5th.
