Irish referees continue to set high standards this season on the international circuit. Irish referees are currently on duty in the RBS 6 Nations and will shortly be leading the referee panel at the Rugby World Cup Sevens in Dubai..
Newly appointed international referee George Clancy was in charge of his first ever RBS 6 Nations when he took charge of the France v Scotland game recently.
Alain Rolland was in charge of the game between Scotland and Wales. There are also appointments for Alan Lewis, Simon McDowell and Peter Fitzgibbon in the Championship games to come.
Meanwhile, Ireland will also be well represented at the IRB RWC Sevens tournament in Dubai next month.
As well as the Ireland squad travelling over to compete, there is a strong contingent from the IRFU referee panel with David Keane, Simon McDowell and Aoife McCarthy (the first Irish woman selected to officiate at an IRB tournament).
Keane, a Referee Development Officer with the IRFU, will captain the 40-strong referee panel for the Dubai event. This panel includes referees, assistant referees, in-goal assistants, sub controllers and time keepers.
The RWC Sevens will be broadcast in Ireland on Setanta and in the UK on Sky with online coverage also available through the IRB website.
