Tag Rugby Teams Rev Up For RDS Match

At half-time during the Leinster v Ulster Magners League match at the RDS on Sunday, St. Vincent’s Tag Rugby Club in Dublin will play against the Newforge Taggers from Belfast.

Both of these teams, St. Vincent’s Tag Rugby Club and the Newforge Taggers, consist of players with an intellectual disability and this is indeed a big occasion for them.

The Leinster side have been in training camp for some time ahead of the big game on Sunday and will be supported by their parents, coaches, and an enthusiastic RDS crowd.

Leinster Rugby were delighted to visit their training camp last Saturday ahead of the big game in Cardiff and brought along the Magners League trophy to the delight of the squad.

Newforge Taggers Tag Rugby Football Club was established in 2006.

Itis a Tag rugby club for those with learning disabilities and presently is the only club of its type in Northern Ireland.

In June 2008, Newforge Taggers hosted an International Festival of Tag Rugby and teams participated from England, Wales and Ireland (St. Vincent’s), which was a major success.

This coming summer, the International Festival of Tag Rugby will be held in Worcester and Newforge Taggers and St. Vincent’s will both be taking part.
