Last Saturday was a big day for Blackrock College RFC. Not only did they topple league leaders Cork Constitution but at half-time they also launched their new online lotto to help rasie funds for the club.
www.locallotto.ie is a Galway-based company which enables clubs to raise money by playing their club lotto online.
Local lotteries and raffles are useful ways of funding local sports clubs.
The system enables clubs to hold and manage their lotteries online, and not just in the clubhouse.
It allows the lottery organisers to cut down on the administration required, but also allows people who would not normally have the time, or be in the locality, to support their favourite teams via the internet.
“This new online lotto will be a big help in the fundraising efforts of Blackrock College RFC,” said Declan Gardiner of the club.
“We encourage all of our ex-members/students and community to play the Blackrock College RFC fundraising lotto.
“We also hope that we can all work together to promote this lotto and help get back in touch with people from Blackrock Collage, Dublin who may now be working and living all over the world.”
During half-time at the Blackrock College v Cork Constitution, Conall Ó Céidigh (Locallotto.ie) joined former Ireland and Lions star Fergus Slattery to draw the first set of numbers.
Unfortuanately there were no winners on the day but do not forget there is always next week with a jackpot of €;550!
