Tickets On Sale For Junior World Championship

The 2009 IRB Junior World Championship in Japan will feature an attractive ticketing policy, providing the gateway to new rugby fans in the country.
The ticketing structure for the Championship, which kicks off on June 5, will start at just 300 Japanese Yen for children and 1,300 Yen for adults with tournament packages available by venue or team.

With the tournament being played across four regional venues in Tokyo, Fukuoka, Osaka and Nagoya, the IRB Junior World Championship has the unique ability to engage fans from each of the host cities.
All thanks to the blend of a competitive ticketing policy, a dedicated legacy programme, double-header matchdays, a strong appetite for the game and the hosting of 16 international teams.
IRB Chairman Bernard Lapasset said: “Both the Japan Rugby Football Union and the IRB believe that the tournament should represent an opportunity to reach out to new fans within the Japanese sporting community.
“We believe that this ticketing structure will serve to open the door to international rugby across the four regions as part of a dedicated tournament legacy programme.

“Their reward, I’m sure, will be an event of high quality on and off the pitch and a lasting legacy that will boost the development of rugby across Japan.”
Underwritten by the commercial success of Rugby World Cup, the annual IRB Junior World Championship, along with its sister event the IRB Junior World Rugby Trophy, plays a key player, coach and referee development role.
The likes of Morgan Parra, Leigh Halfpenny, David Pocock, Mathieu Bastareaud and Quade Cooper have all graduated from last year’s IRB Junior World Championship to make their mark on the world stage.
Japan is looking forward to welcoming the future stars of the international game in June.

Ireland finished ninth at last year’s inaugural IRB Junior World Championship in Wales and after securing second place in the recent RBS Under-20 6 Nations tournament, Allen Clarke’s squad will be eager to make their trip to Japan one to remember.
