‘Hinch Under-18s Add To Trophy Haul

It has already been a big season for Ballynahinch and their Under-18s have added to the silverware haul by winning the Irwin’s Nutty Krust Under-18 Floodlit Cup.

Ballynahinch have had some season. AIB Cup champions, First Trust Ulster Senior League champions and promotion to Division One Section B of the AIB League are all in the bag.

Tonight they are at Ravenhill for the final of the Ulster Senior Cup and on Monday they play host to Lansdowne in the semi-final of the AIB League Division Two play-offs.

In the meantime, the club’s Under-18s have added to the trophy haul, proving that ‘Hinch will be a force to be reckoned with in the coming seasons.

‘Hinch Under-18s beat Malone by a comprehensive 21-0 in the final of the Irwin’s Nutty Krust Floodlit Cup.

The tournament, now in its 30th year, is regarded as one of the highlights of the youth rugby circuit.

18 teams from across Ulster participated this year.

There was an official presentation in the clubhouse after the game to ‘Hinch Under-18 captain Michael Carson.

On hand to make the presentation were Ulster, Ireland and newly-selected Lion Stephen Ferris as well as former Lion and Ulster and Ireland star Tyrone Howe. Also in attendance was Brian Irwin of tournament sponsors Irwin’s Bakery.
