Wright Joins Suttonians Coaching Team

Suttonians RFC have announced the appointment of Heineken Cup-winning Leinster prop Stan Wright as their forwards coach for the 2009/10 season.

Stan Wright, who hails from the Cook Islands, will join recently-appointed Suttonians cead coach Robert Forbes and other coaching staff at the north Dublin club.

Wright, who has over 60 caps for Leinster, was recently voted the Unsung Hero by his fellow players at the IRUPA awards.

Alan Barron, Director of Rugby at the Suttonians, described the appointment as ‘an illustration of the club’s desire to develop the talents of young players who are coming through the ranks of the club’s vast underage structure.’

Barron added: “Not only will the presence of Stan benefit existing players within the club, but, it will also attract new players, particularly forwards, which will no doubt improve and expand the game in our area.”

Wright will be responsible not only for the coaching of the club’s first team forwards, but also for developing the coaching structures in place for forwards from the minis and youths to the club’s junior squads.

At present, Suttonians RFC field four senior age teams, an Under-20 side and also cater for players from under-6 to under-19.

Anybody interested in joining the club is encouraged to contact Alan Barron by email at alanbarron@eircom.net, or through the website at www.srfc.ie.
