In Pics: Armagh RFC Welcomes New IRFU President

The newly enrolled IRFU President John Callaghan received a rousing welcome on his return to Armagh Rugby Club on Saturday.

Armagh RFC had reason to be proud on Saturday as they welcomed home the newly enrolled IRFU President, John Callaghan, the first man from the club to achieve the position.

Armagh’s own President George Knipe was on hand to welcome the new IRFU President to the club.

Current Ulster and Ireland star Stephen Ferris was also present, answering questions from TV presenter Adrian Logan about his love for the club game, the Lions tour and the new coaching regime at Ulster.

While much of his playing career was spent with CIYMS, Callaghan was first elected to the Ulster Branch as a representative for Armagh RFC in 1989/90.

He was Ulster Branch President in 1999 when Ulster won the European Cup and was then elected to the IRFU Committe in 2000/01.

Callaghan has a strong association with youth rugby.
