The Bud Light Tag season at Sligo kicked off each Thursday evening in Hamilton Park Sligo at 6.30pm leading up to the grand finale of Finals Night Fancy dress which was the order of the day for on Friday 17th July 2009.
The Beginners’ League had a total of ten teams competing for the title of Top of the league. The Sun Shiners outshone all other teams on the final night and took the cup home beating Aylesbury Rules who were very close to taking the title however Aylesbury Rules claimed the Bowl on the night.
The Sun Shiners certainly were dressed to be seen in multicoloured clothes for the night. The Slow Coaches team managed to make most of their matches and certainly added to the entertainment on the pitch each week, however Cool Runnings were awarded the win for this match on the last night of Tag.
The Supermodels and Team D&G had an exciting final game in fancy dress on the final night, the Supermodels took home the Superbowl after winning this game.
Jako otherwise known as Jamaican People for the night played the Egg Chasers who won the game and they were presented with the Plate.
Abbottsolutely Fabulous played McTaggernauts, a very injured looking team even before they played. Abbottsolutely Fabulous won the game by a small margin.
The C League started with the Miss Fits playing Were Huge in Japan. The miss fits team turned into an all ladies team with some men looking quiet ladylike in women’s clothes, while the We’re huge In Japan who won the Superbowl adopted the Japanese style and dressed as Geisha women and men.
Bring on the Trumpets played against Good 4U beating them by a good margin. The Bowl was presented to the Ruckin Rockets who enjoyed a good win against Thunder Tags, with Elizabeth O Sullivan from the ruckin rockets team getting the Miss Tag award on the night as well.
JOD Sharks received the League C Cup after beating The Randomers, with an extra win for the JOD sharks with Michael Clarke picking up the Mr Tag Award on the night.
The B League had some entertaining games on the final night. Boots N All was awarded the Superbowl as they bet the LA Boozers who enjoyed the games each week!
The Cheetahs picked up the Bowl; they won their game against Guten Tag. Guten Tag team was awarded the Best Fancy Dress. Fairly Lively dressed as Bees for the night and they were playing Samson United the Superheroes for the night, Fairly Lively bet Samson United by 2 points in the end giving Fairly Lively the Plate.
The winners of the B League was The Monsters who bet The Strandvestites.
The Bud Light Tag Rugby Sligo Committee would like to thank the following for all the support help and great effort during the nine weeks.
