Bradley Turns Attention To Montpellier
Connacht coach Michael Bradley says his side will got to Montpellier later this week in ‘a confident frame of mind’ after their eight try 46-6 victory over Spanish outfit Olympus Rugby Madrid in their Amlin Challenge Cup opener.
Connacht head to France this week to take on Montpellier in round two of the Amlin Challenge Cup. Montpellier’s surprise 22-17 win in Worcester on Thursday has given this encounter a new dimension. It was their first triumph in 11 trips to Britain.
Speaking after Connacht’s opening win over Madrid, head coach Michael Bradley said: “It was a case of doing our business and getting the bonus point win.
“But the level of performance, in terms of where we want to be at, was not something we were happy with.
“Montpellier’s win over Worcester means our game against them is a top of the table clash.
“We have a reasonable record against them so we will go to France in a confidence frame of mind.”
Connacht played Montepellier three seasons in-a-row from 2004 to 2007 and won 19-13 on their second visit there.
Back rowers Mike McComish and Ray Ofisa, who were sidelined for the Madrid tie, are Connacht’s main injury worries.
“We are monitoring the fitness of the lads at the moment, but both Mike and Ray would have to be regarded as very doubtful,” he added.
