O2 MatchDay Live: Ireland v Australia
Ireland take on Australia at Croke Park this afternoon in their first match of the GUINNESS Series 2009. Catch all the action right here on IrishRugby.ie with our O2 MatchDay Live service.
Ireland’s first outing of the new international season will see Declan Kidney’s men clash with the touring Wallabies at a packed-out Croke Park.
The last time Australia visited Dublin back in November 2006, they fell to a 21-6 defeat as tries from Denis Hickie and Geordan Murphy helped Ireland to a deserved win at a blustery Lansdowne Road.
The sides’ most recent meeting saw the Australians win back the Lansdowne Cup courtesy of an 18-12 victory in Melbourne in June 2008.
Ireland captain Brian O’Driscoll’s memorable try from that game was later named the International Rugby Players Association’s Try of the Year.
More of the same could see the Grand Slam champions get their 2009/10 campaign off to an encouraging start this afternoon at Croker.
