Irish rugby and the IRFU were honoured at last week’s Business & Finance Awards for our contribution to Brand Ireland.
Declan Kidney, Ireland’s 2009 Grand Slam-winning coach, and John Callaghan, President of the IRFU, accepted the ‘Outstanding Contribution to Brand Ireland’ Award, recognising a triumphant year for Irish rugby.
The Business & Finance Awards were established in 1964 to honour outstanding contributions to business in Ireland.
The award for Irish rugby recognised the achievement of the Ireland squad and management in winning the Grand Slam for the first time since 1948 and how both they and the IRFU protray Ireland in a positive light both at home and abroad.
Earlier in the week, Kidney was announced as the Philips Sports Manager of the Year for 2009.
