IRFU & Leinster Branch Fitness Workshop
The IRFU and Leinster Rugby, in association with Setanta College, are delighted to announce that a Fitness workshop will be held in the Mount Herbert Hotel, Dublin 4 on Thursday, May 27. This workshop will be aimed at coaches working at all levels.
Following the success of the Fitness workshops in other provinces, the IRFU and Leinster Rugby, in association with Setanta College, will present the Leinster leg of their workshop tour this month.
One of the key presenters at this workshop will be Paul Pook who is more regularly seen in action at training with the Ireland team. Paul is the strength & conditioning coach for the national side.
The topics that will be covered are as follows:
Improving Function, Speed, Strength & Power in Rugby Players
Presenter: Des Ryan, IRFU Fitness Education Manager
Monitoring Workload and Recovery
Presenter: Paul Pook, Ireland Strength & Conditioning Coach
Introduction to Weightlifting for Rugby
Presenter: Colin Buckley, Irish Amateur Weightlifting Association Coach Development Officer
The workshop will be mainly theory with some practical content. The night will be of great use to coaches who would like to know what is the most appropriate and practical method to develop young and old players.
The workshop is ideal for coaches who would like to introduce something new and challenging to their training. The workshop is open to any coach especially from Leinster and the surrounding area.

Date – Thursday, May 27
Time – 7pm to 10pm
Venue – Mount Herbert Hotel
Cost – 30 euro (10 euro for IRFU regional fitness coaches)
Registration – Places are limited and coaches must register with Niamh Nash or call 01 6473835. The closing date is Monday, May 24 and once registered coaches will receive information and a timetable one week before the workshop.
