Navan Host Awards Day For Young Players

Navan Rugby Club, like so many clubs in Ireland, believes in building from the ground up. So many of their players have come up through the ranks and in keeping with tradition, they held an awards day recently for their underage players from Minis to Under-19s.

Like so many community based clubs, Navan’s teams comprise of players who have come up through the ranks.

Their mini rugby section is a vibrant part of the club and their emphasis on the development and progression of young players has seen them make the jump to All-Ireland League status – holding their own in Division 3 this season.

There were awards at every age grade from Under-7 right up to Under-19, including Player of the Season and Most Improved Player.

Navan’s newly-appointed head coach Leon Jordaan was delighted to present the many awards to the young stars of the club from the minis right up to their U-19s.

There was also a special presentation from Conor Ryan, an Ireland Under-18 International who, along with club-mate Akalaque Khan, represented their club and country so well at the FIRA-AER Under-18 European Championship in Treviso recently.

Conor presented his Ireland U-18 jersey to Club President Michael Gavigan and it will take pride of place on Navan RFC’s honour wall.
