In Pics: Ireland Training In Rotorua

The Ireland squad trained on the second pitch at Rotorua’s International Stadium on Monday afternoon, kickstarting their preparations for Friday’s clash with New Zealand Maori.

The fit-again Shane Horgan, who is over his stomach complaint, and the newly-arrived Rhys Ruddock both trained with the squad as Ireland gear up to face New Zealand Maori in Rotorua on Friday (kick-off 7.35pm local time/8.35am Irish time).

John Hayes, who missed the All Blacks game with a virus, was back training. His Munster front row colleague Jerry Flannery (calf) sat out the session as he continues to do rehab work with athletic trainer/physio Brian Green and the Ireland medics.

Meanwhile, another Munsterman, hooker Damien Varley, missed out on an opportunity to play for the New Zealand Barbarians against the Maoris over the weekend. Named on the replacements bench, he sustained a back injury in the warm-up and had to sit out the game.
