The season may have just come to a close for Ireland’s summer tour players, but the provinces have already come together in the past week to begin their preparations for the 2010/11 campaign.
A number of players from the Munster squad commenced pre-season training today (Monday) as thoughts turn to the new season.
The next four weeks will see the players take part in intensive strength and conditioning sessions under the watchful eye of Paul Darbyshire and his strength and conditioning department.
The players not involved in the Ireland senior and Under-20 squads assembled in Limerick today to undergo fitness tests, and will train in their respective centres during the week. They finish with a full squad session on Friday in Cork.
Munster hope to hold training sessions throughout the province over the next coming weeks and any further details will be posted on their website.
Today saw the return of South African prop Wian du Preez, while New Zealand centre Sam Tuitupou will join his Munster colleagues for the first time.
The province’s senior internationals will return to action on Monday, July 26 and the squad will head for the La Manga Club in Spain on Tuesday, August 10 for a week long pre-season training camp.
On their return, Munster welcome Leicester Tigers (Friday, August 20) and Gloucester (Friday, August 27) to Musgrave Park, with tickets on sale now for both fixtures. More details here.
