Baker Boots His Way Into Record Books

To mark the official launch of Saturday’s O2 Challenge match, the first rugby game to be played at the new Aviva Stadium, Ireland kicking coach Mark Tainton was joined by John Baker from Ennis, County Clare for a unique conversion attempt.

John Baker was the winner of O2’s national competition to be the first person to attempt a conversion on the pitch at the Aviva Stadium. His two sons – James (11) and Ben (13) – joined himself pitchside for the occasion.

The Ennis native, pictured aboved with Ireland kicking coach Mark Tainton, successfully split the posts with his effort on goal.

Congratulations to John, who became the first of what will surely be a long line of Irish rugby scorers at the Aviva Stadium!
