Garryowen Get Set To Host Munster Sevens

The 2010 Munster Rugby Sevens, the fourth annual club Sevens tournament in the province, will take place this Saturday at Garryowen FC – beginning at 12pm.

Ten of Munster’s senior clubs line out on the day, including current Munster Senior Cup holders Young Munster and defending Munster Seven champions Thomond.

In addition, there will be junior squad representation from Richmond, Presentation, Newcastle West, Killarney, Kilfeacle, Galbally, St. Mary’s and Cashel, as well as women’s teams from Fermoy, Tralee, Nenagh Ormond and Highfield.

Sevens rugby has recently been given a huge boost in profile with its inclusion in the 2016 Olympic Games which will be held in Rio de Janerio.

Munster Domestic Rugby Manager Ultan O’Callaghan said: “It is fantastic to see both Munster Rugby and the tournament sponsors, Meteor, coming together to again support the domestic club game.

“Sevens rugby is an ideal platform for both adult retention and the talent development of provincial players and we look forward to showcasing the skill and ability that these players have to offer at this year’s Munster Sevens tournament.”

As in previous years, the Munster Sevens promises to be a great family day out. In addition to an action-packed rugby schedule, there also promises to be a host of family entertainment planned including a bouncy castle, a barbeque and a live DJ.

Make sure to show your support at a great day out, the 2010 Munster Rugby Sevens. Please see schedule of events below:
