Ireland will go into their Women’s Rugby World Cup play-off againt the USA on Wednesday without the experienced Tania Rosser who has been ruled out of the tournament through injury.
Scrum half Tania Rosser picked up a shoulder injury during the pool game against the USA last week and while initially it was hoped that she might recover, she has now been ruled out of the rest of the tournament.
The highly experienced Grace Davitt has been called up to the squad as a replacement.
Ireland finished second in Pool B with 10 points but missed out on a semi-final spot as France upset the odds to beat Canada and Australia posted a big win over South Africa to seal their place as the best placed runners-up.
Ireland now face the USA again on Wednesday in the 5th-8th place play-offs. The winners of this game will face Canada or Scotland on Sunday, the final day of the tournament.
