Cork Con Ready To Jazz Up AIL

Temple Hill will host a top of the table clash with a difference this weekend when Cork Constitution ‘jazz’ up for the visit of Division 1A rivals Young Munster. Tony O’Connor of Cork Con tells us what is in store for the visitors, the locals and any neutrals looking for a great day out in Cork on Saturday.

Next Saturday, Cork Constitution and Young Munster play each other in a top of a table encounter in All-Ireland League Division 1A, and the game will double up as both teams contest the Danaher Sheehan Cup.

This is Cork Con’s first All-Ireland League match at home this season and the club is looking forward to the day. With it being Cork Jazz weekend, it promises to be a great day with a full itinerary in place for all the family.

Cork Con playing Young Munster at Temple Hill at this stage of the league is a considerable challenge and the players have been working hard to maintain their 100% start to the campaign.

In past seasons, Cork Con and Young Munster have had many battles to remember and this weekend should be no different.

It has been a number of years since both clubs have faced each other in the All-Ireland League, so on Saturday afternoon Cork Con are looking forward to renewing old friendships with the Limerick club.

Constitution are planning a fun day which includes a matchday lunch with guest speaker Paul Derham, a Cork Con stalwart, a member of the inaugural All-Ireland League winning side and past Cork Con director of rugby.

There will be Jazz before and after the AIL match an underage blitzes running up to kick-off, activities for all family members and the matchday barbeque is being rolled out for the day. All in all, it promises to be a great occasion not to be missed!

It will also be a special day for back rower Frank Cogan – his first home match this season as Cork Con’s captain. This is his third year as captain, a feat unrivalled in Constitution’s recent history.

It may also be a chance to see some future Munster and Ireland stars in action with Cork Con counting Peter O’Mahony, Billy Holland, Tom Gleeson, Ian Nagle, Stephen Archer, Simon Zebo and two members of the Munster squad that beat Toulon last Saturday, Scott Deasy and Duncan Williams, in their ranks.

2010/11 is all about family engagement in Cork Con and the reigning Division 1 champions are encouraging families to come along on Saturday and enjoy what Cork Con have to offer on an AIL matchday.
