Puma Launch Commemorative Jersey
PUMA and IRFU have revealed the Ireland commemorative kit – a one-off kit to be worn against World champions South Africa on Saturday, November 6, celebrating the first major rugby international at the new Aviva Stadium.
Ireland will wear a special commemorative green jersey to mark the return of international rugby to the Aviva Stadium on Saturday, November 6.
Ireland will play host to reigning World champions South Africa, whose jersey is also green. Tradition dictates that the home team wear an alternative jersey when there is a clash of colours in rugby, but to mark this special day in Irish rugby history, the Springboks have kindly agreed to wear an alternative jersey.
PUMA have taken inspiration from the heritage and tradition of previous Irish rugby teams that have graced the hallowed turf of the world’s oldest Test match venue, and produced a kit that features a traditional look and ‘cotton’ feel, while using ultra-modern fabrics and construction techniques which give the kit the strong and lightweight high performance demanded by today’s players.
The colour and design pay homage to the traditional Irish shirts of the 1970s and 1980s, worn by legendary Irish players of the past at the Lansdowne Road ground.
