Rugby Fans Unite For Operation Ho! Ho! Ho!
Bóthar, along with rugby fans, were extremely successful in their attempt to break a world record at Thomond Park last Saturday.
Rugby fans broke the world record attempt for the greatest number of people wearing Santa hats at a given time, with Bóthar on hand distributing over 8,000 special Santa hats outside Thomond Park before the Munster v Cardiff Blues Magners League match.
The Munster and Cardiff supporters were asked to unite briefly to get behind the occasion and wear their Santa hats.
Some minutes before kick-off, everybody was asked via the public address system to wear their special Bóthar Santa hats for one minute, to establish the world record.
Peter Ireton, Bóthar’s Chief Executive, said: “Bóthar is very much delighted that a new world record for wearing Santa hats was set, with the support of rugby fans.
“Not only did the Santa hats bring some festive cheer and fun to the stadium, they will also give poverty-stricken families in developing countries the help they need to help themselves.”
In total, there were 8,322 rugby supporters wearing the hats at the match at Thomond Park
The public’s donation of €;2 or more per hat will be used to help struggling families in 35 countries worldwide.
