The All-Ireland League kicks back into action this weekend and reigning champions Cork Constitution are continuing their fantastic efforts on and off the field with a big day of events built around their ‘replay’ of last season’s final against St. Mary’s College.
Temple Hill will be a hive of activity on Saturday as Cork Constitution host St. Mary’s College in the first All-Ireland League Division 1A clash of the New Year.
This game was originally scheduled for December and the club had planned a series of events for the day.
Cork Con have pulled out all the stops this season using their home AIL games to promote the game, the league and club in the community.
This Saturday is no different. The pre-match lunch will see the presentation of a cheque to Marymount Hospice – the efforts of a previous club fundraiser – and the presentation of Dennehy Cup medals to the J2s – Constitution’s first cup winners of the season.
The senior clash with St. Mary’s kicks off at 2.30pm and will be followed by a four team Under-12 floodlit blitz.
Later that night you can make the short trip to Musgrave Park for Munster’s Magners League encounter with Glasgow Warriors or you can relax in the Cork Con bar and watch the game live on RTE with food and of course a post-match pint.
With a host of Constitution players in the Munster set-up, there is sure to be a lively atmosphere.
Cork Con’s efforts at promoting the league locally and also in running events around each home game have paid dividends in increased numbers through the gate.
If you do go along on Saturday afternoon, you could be in for a cracking game as second plays third in Division 1A of the All-Ireland League.
