IRFU & Connacht Rugby Announce Open Fitness Seminar
The IRFU and Connacht Rugby are delighted to announce that the second annual fitness seminar will be held at the Sportsground in Galway, the home of Connacht Rugby, on Monday, February 28.
This workshop will be aimed at rugby coaches working at all levels but is open to coaches from all sports. The seminar will be held in the Connacht Rugby gym, one of the best strength and conditioning facilities in Ireland.
Last year’s seminar was very successful and was attended by over 70 coaches. This year more presenters and different topics have been added to the line-up. The topics that will be covered are as follows:
‘How to develop speed in our players‘
Presenter: Des Ryan (IRFU fitness education manager)
‘Best practice in nutrition for our players‘
Presenter: Kevin Cradock (Connacht Rugby senior head fitness coach)
‘Practical planning and periodisation for club and school coaches‘
Presenter: Antoine Mobian (Connacht Rugby Academy fitness coach)
‘The essentials of high performance and excellence’
Presenter: Greg Muller (Connacht Rugby senior fitness coach and elite athletic and human performance coach)
The seminar will be both theory and practical based, using some of the young players from Connacht Rugby as subjects and anyone who is willing to give it a go.
The seminar will be of great use to coaches who would like to know, what is the most appropriate and practical method to develop their players.
Also the seminar is ideal for coaches who would like to introduce something new and challenging to their training.
The event is open to any coaches especially from Connacht. Similar workshops will be run in the Munster, Leinster and Ulster areas.
