The Women’s All-Ireland Cup and Plate finals take place at Wanderers FC on Merrion Road this Saturday. This is a great chance to support Women’s rugby before heading on to the Ireland v England match later that evening.
Both finals kick off at 12pm at the Merrion Road home of Wanderers FC. In the Women’s All-Ireland Cup final, defending champions UL Bohemians will face Cooke.
The champions’ road through to the decider saw them overcome Ballincollig and Blackrock before narrowly defeating Galwegians in the semi-final to avoid a big upset.
Cooke, who are currently fifth in Women’s All-Ireland League Division 1, beat Shannon in the opening round and then recorded a big win over Cill Dara in the quarter-finals. They went on to beat Highfield in the semis to clinch their final spot.
The Plate final sees City Of Derry taking on St. Mary’s College. The Ulster side knocked out pre-cup favourites Old Belvedere en route to the final. while St. Mary’s toughed it out against Navan to ensure their progress.
The Ireland Women are in action against England in Ashbourne on Friday night but many of them will be on the sidelines on Saturday afternoon cheering on their club sides.
