The Exiles branch of the IRFU continues to develop young Irish-qualified players and they are expanding their game-time this weekend with a match between the Exiles U-20 Development side and the English Colleges.
Although they have been heavily hit by injury-enforced absences, the Exiles Under-20 Development side can still call upon a wealth of experience.
Prop Tom Margetson, who played for Ireland Under-18 Clubs XV in the FIRA-AER European Championship last year, features. Tom is now with Otley and has appeared for Leeds Carnegie ‘A’ side.
Centre Liam Marmion, whose twin brother Kieran is an Ireland Under-19 squad member, now of UWIC, plays, as will out-half Caolan Ryan of Worcester.
Full-back Luke O’Keefe, who also featured in the 2009 FIRA-AER Championship, is pencilled in to play along with Dungannon back rower Callum Threlfall, who is now at the University of Ulster.
Hooker Tom Crozier from Colchester is a former England Under-16 player but has switched to the Exiles to further his rugby development.
The Exiles U-20 Development squad is managed by Tim Threlfall, who is making his debut in the role, and coached by Andrew Browne and Brian Farrell. The physio is Neil Boyd and Mark Blair will be overseeing operations.
