Cork Con Plan Leinster v Munster Theme For ‘Rock Game

Temple Hill will once again be a hive of activity on Saturday as Cork Constitution host a ‘Leinster v Munster’ themed day for their last home game of the regular season in Ulster Bank League Division 1A.

Cork Constitution have made all their home games this season a real family day out and the club has been packed out on Saturdays in the Ulster Bank League.

This Saturday is their last home game of the regular league campaign – they have a home semi-final yet to come – and it will be another big day as the club host several key note games and off-pitch activities.

The centrepiece is their Ulster Bank League Division 1A clash with Blackrock College, but there is a real Leinster v Munster dimension to the whole day as Cork Con’s Under-11s and Under-12s host Boyne RFC minis, while the Under-21s face Lansdowne in the semi-final of the Frazer McMullen Cup.

The day commences with the pre-match buffet lunch which has become an integral part of matchdays.

On this occasion, Cork Con club President Der O’Riordan has invited members of both the Presentation and CBC Senior Cup teams to attend.

In addition to the pre-match activities, an underage Blitz will run up to kick-off and the matchday barbeque is making a return now that the weather is improving.

The Under-21 semi-final of the Frazer McMullen Cup between Cork Con and Lansdowne kicks off after the main event at 4.30pm.

At the same time, the U-11s and U-12s from Cork Con and Boyne will play each other and finally there will be a Tag rugby exhibition as Cork Con prepare for the coming season of Tag rugby in Temple Hill.

When the busy schedule of the day is over, supporters of Munster and Leinster can adjourn to both bars to watch one of the highlights of the Magners League season – Munster v Leinster live from Thomond Park.

Yet again, supporters can expect to see some of Constitution’s Munster-contracted players in action, with Peter O’Mahony, Billy Holland, Ian Nagle, Stephen Archer, Simon Zebo, Ivan Dineen, Scott Deasy, Duncan Williams, Denis Fogarty, Sean Scanlon and Tom Gleeson all pressing for inclusion in the province’s matchday squad.

The Cork Constitution U-21s qualified for the semi-final of the Frazer McMullen Cup after defeating St. Mary’s College at Temple Hill last Saturday and now play Lansdowne who defeated St. Mary’s at this stage of the competition last season.

Cork Con’s Cathal O’Flaherty and David O’Mahony both played for the Ireland Under-20s in the recent U-20 Six Nations.

It promises to be an exciting encounter as Lansdowne come to Cork after defeating UCC last Saturday and will fancy their chances against another Cork side.

Newly-promoted to the senior ranks, Boyne RFC, will be playing Cork Con’s U-11s and U-12s in a return fixture. They played each other at Old Belvedere at the start of the season.

Cork Con and Boyne will play a blitz from 4.30pm on pitch 2, while the U-21 semi-final will take place on the main pitch.
