Ferris Sidelined For Ulster’s Quarter-Final

Stephen Ferris is to undergo surgery on his left knee which will rule him out of Ulster’s Heineken Cup quarter-final against Northampton Saints on Sunday, April 10.

Having undergone a period of treatment and rehabilitation for the left knee injury sustained during Ulster’s match against Aironi in January, Stephen Ferris was reassessed by his surgeon today.

A decision has been taken for the Ireland and Lions flanker to undergo arthroscopic surgery.

It is hoped that following this procedure, a definitive diagnosis and prognosis for his return to rugby will be reached.

However, in the short term, it means that Ferris will not be available for Ulster’s much-anticipated Heineken Cup quarter-final clash with Northampton Saints next month.
