Corinthians Claim Connacht Club Sevens Crown

On their home turf Galway Corinthians completed a remarkable victory over their city rivals Galwegians to win the first ever Club Sevens Championship in Connacht.

It wa a busy day in Galway with Connacht winning their first ever IRFU Junior Interprovincial title after a great win over Munster at the Sportsground.

At Corinthian Park it was also the home side that emerged victorious as Corinthians beat neighbours Galwegians 47-12 to win the Connacht Club Sevens Championship and book their place in the All-Ireland tournament next weekend.

Corinthians, who narrowly missed out on a play-off spot in Division 2 of the Ulster Bank League, were much the stronger side as they overcame Division 1B outfit Galwegians in the final.

Both teams now advance to the All-Ireland Championship which will take place next Saturday at St. Mary’s College RFC where.

Joining them are the winners and runners-up from the other provincial Sevens Championships – Queen’s University and City Of Derry from Ulster, UL Bohemians and Garryowen from Munster and Old Belvedere and Clontarf from Leinster.

The All-Ireland finals will also feature Junior and Women’s competitions.
