IRFU Tag All-Ireland Championships Are Launched

Teams are currently being notified of their qualification status and being invited to contest their grades in the 2011 IRFU Tag All-Ireland Championships, which will be held at Suttonians RFC on Saturday, August 13.

For the second year running, Suttonians RFC will host the Championship when 70 teams from all over Ireland descend upon the club and compete for the IRFU Tag national titles in their respective grades.

Teams at venues which have not yet reached their semi-final stages or do not end until the last week will be invited according to their league positions as of Friday, July 15.

The qualificable league position must entail a team either competing in their grade’s Cup competition or else in fourth place by this date.

Invitations to compete are sent out by email to team captains in each grade.

This week, teams at the following venues are being notified over the next two days of their qualification:

Blackrock College RFC
Highfield RFC
Malone RFC
Old Belvedere RFC
St. Mary’s College RFC/Templeogue College
Suttonians RFC

This year also sees the introduction of a new competition at the All-Ireland in the form of the Open Grade. Teams of ANY grade and from anywhere may enter this particular league.

This is ideal for teams wishing to be part of the day but who may have just missed out on qualification or for non-IRFU Tag teams who would like to take part.

In addition to the games themselves, Suttonians have a great evening planned for the post-match party which will include live music, DJ, bar, BBQ and of course, live coverage of France v Ireland in the pre-Rugby World Cup game being played in Bordeaux that night.

On the night, there will be exclusive prizes involving amongst other forms, tickets to see Ireland v France (Saturday, August 20) and Ireland v England (Saturday, August 27) at the Aviva Stadium in the GUINNESS Summer Series during the following two weeks.

As the number of teams qualifying to take part is high, places for each grade are limited and subject to availability only.

Registering online as soon as you receive your team’s invitation is the best way to guarantee your team’s place, should you wish to take part.

Incomplete registrations will not be included in draws and reservations of places are not possible.

IRFU Tag’s online registration form can be found here.
