Malone Installed As New Bruff Boss

Bruff RFC have announced that experienced back rower Peter Malone is stepping up as the club’s head coach for the coming season.

Peter Malone has vast experience of the Ulster Bank League with Limerick clubs Garryowen and Bruff, and he has also captained the Ireland Club International side.

During Bruff’s 2010/11 campaign, during which they won the Munster Senior Cup and Bateman All-Ireland Cup and retained their place in Division 1B, Malone was the forwards coach and an inspirational figure in the back row.

With Eoin Cahill moving to Shannon, where he joins former Bruff and Shannon club-mate Stephen Keogh, Malone has taken over as head coach at Kilballyowen Park.

Munster video analyst George Murray has also come on board as Bruff’s new assistant/backs coach. Brendan Bourke continues in his role as fitness and conditioning instructor.

A statement from Bruff RFC added: “We would like to take this opportunity to thank outgoing coach Eoin Cahill for all of the great work that he has done as a player, backs coach and finally head coach in the five years since his return to the club.

“We wish him the very best as he takes up his new role with Shannon RFC.”

Malone’s charges will begin their defence of the Munster Senior Cup with a home match against Clonakilty on Saturday, September 10.

Meanwhile, Bruff’s popular ‘Bull ‘N’ Booze’ Tag Rugby Blitz, which will take place on Saturday, August 13, promises to be the biggest and best yet.

The club are taking bookings for camping and entries from some travelling overseas sides. For booking and event Information page, go to the Bruff website and the club’s Facebook page.
