Munster tighthead prop BJ Botha was cleared of foul play at a disciplinary hearing in Edinburgh today, having been cited by an independent citing commissioner at the recent RaboDirect PRO12 match between Munster and the Ospreys.
BJ Botha was cited for striking an opponent with the head, contrary to Law 10.4 (a), during Munster’s recent league defeat to the Ospreys at Thomond Park.
An independent Rabo Direct PRO12 disciplinary committee chaired by Paul Minto (Scotland), who was assisted by Rob Flockhart (Scotland) and Marco Cordelli (Italy), considered the video evidence and listened to the player’s explanation of the incident.
The committee found that, on the balance of probabilities, the incident that was cited was not an act of foul play under Law 10.4 (a). They were not satisfied that the citing complaint could be upheld.
