IRFU Announce New Senior Management Positions

The Irish Rugby Football Union is pleased to announce the fulfilment of two new senior management positions.

Conor O’Brien, having previously held the position of Financial Controller and been a part of the organisation since 1998, has moved into the position of Director of Finance for the IRFU.

His new role in the organisation reflects the heightened responsibilities he will be undertaking in dealing with various financial institutions and the wider rugby community in an increasingly complex economic environment.

Scott Walker, having joined the IRFU as Domestic Rugby Manager in 2008, will take the new role of Director of Rugby Development and the Club Game.

This title more accurately reflects his role and responsibilities in managing the rugby development programmes that the IRFU is implementing to aid player development and growth of the game across clubs, schools and leisure rugby.

In terms of the club game, Walker will continue to manage all aspects of the club game and its competition structures.

Both new positions have been created in line with the expanding remit of the IRFU and the changing environment for participation in sport in Ireland.
