Old Belvedere Boosted By Leinster Senior Cup Success

Old Belvedere capped off a memorable calendar year in the club’s history when they sealed the Leinster Senior League Cup after defeating Blackrock College 16-3 in Friday night’s final at Donnybrook.

Daniel Riordan put in a fine all-round performance for Old Belvedere against their old foes both with the boot – in slotting home two first half penalties either side of number 8 Jack Conan’s try – in addition to finding a number of spaces in open play.

Blackrock, to their credit, rallied and their pack dug deep to try and carve out an opening. Eventually their hard work was rewarded with a penalty from full-back Andrew Letham.

However, ‘Rock’s recovery was short-lived and Riordan stole away late in the game to notch his side’s second try in bitterly cold conditions and seal a deserved win.
