Munster Rugby have announced that Waikato and Chiefs winger/centre Savenaca Tokula will be joining them for the remainder of the current season.
The signing of Savenaca Tokula follows the return of centre Will Chambers to Australia in January and injuries to two of Munster’s contracted centres, Tom Gleeson (shoulder) and Troy Smith (knee).
Smith will require a second operation following a recurrence of the knee injury which has sidelined him for most of the season.
The 26-year-old Fijian-born Tokula, who stands at 1.87cm and weighs 96kg, was a member of the New Zealand Sevens squad in 2009 and 2010.
He has played 36 times for Waikato since making his debut against Wellington in 2008 and last season played Super 15 rugby with the Chiefs.
He is expected to arrive in Ireland over the coming weekend.
