IRFU And Leinster Fitness Seminar
The IRFU and Leinster Rugby are delighted to announce that their third annual Fitness Seminar will be held in the Aviva Stadium on Wednesday, April 4.
The IRFU and Leinster Fitness Seminar will be aimed at rugby coaches working at all levels but is open to coaches from all sports.
Last year’s workshop was very successful and was attended by over 70 coaches. This year different topics have been added to the line-up.

Topic 1 – Programme Design for Youth Players
Presenter: Bryan Cullen (Leinster Rugby NTP fitness coach)
Topic 2 – How to Assess and Develop Movement Skills in our Players
Presenter: Des Ryan (IRFU fitness education manager)
Topic 3 – Optimising Nutrition to support Young Rugby Players
Presenter: Emma McCrudden (Leinster Rugby performance nutritionist)
Topics that will be covered during the Nutrition workshop will include:
* Meeting energy and nutrient requirements for training and match play
* Supporting physical gains from training
* Maximising player recovery
* Practical resources to educate players (and parents) in managing their nutrition
* Addressing performance issues including cramp, fatigue, dehydration, weight loss
The seminar will be of great use to coaches who would like to know what is the most appropriate and practical method to develop their players.
Also the seminar is ideal for coaches who would like to introduce something new and challenging to their training. The seminar is open to any coaches especially from Leinster and the surrounding area.
Similar workshops have been run and will be run in the Connacht, Leinster and Ulster areas. Information on these workshops and others during the year will be found on www.irishrugby.ie as soon as details are available.
