On a beautiful sunny Wexford day, Curracloe was alive with the sounds of Beach Tag as teams took to the shores once again for this year’s event
In anticipation of the weekend ahead, all eyes were on various weather forecasting websites, the TV news and every newspaper report last week. The good faith in what was understood to be a rare sunny episode was rewarded with a wonderful day of tag at Curracloe and with the post-match party in Wexford town afterwards.
Setting up camp around the pitch areas, each team got their group stage underway and played games throughout the day towards semi-finals for the three trophies up for grabs.
In the Bowl semi-finals, Donkey Managers just about beat BNY Mellon to the spoils 5-4 while Team Random won a great game to watch by beating Here For Beer by 7-5. Meanwhile, in the Plate semi-finals, Tagtastic pipped The Pretenders at the post by 5-4 when Temple Street Tigers saw off SAPranos by 4-1.
For the Cup, Oh Jesus! soundly beat a battling Setagta 7-1 setting up a final against Runyak who beat Scrum & Get Me by 5-2.
Following the day’s games, teams returned to their hotel, B&Bs, campsites etc to get ready for the night out in Wexford town that would start with trophy presentations at T Morris Bar on Monck Street then on to Centenary Stores for the post-match party.
A special thank you goes out all our referees, participating teams, Plant & Hire, Wexford County Council, An Garda Siochana, T Morris Bar and the Centenary Stores.
Results:
CUP: Runyak 4 Oh Jesus! 1
PLATE: Tagtastic 1 Temple Street Tigers 3

Next up this year is the final beach event which takes place at Portstewart on Saturday August 4th. This is the fourth year on this part of the Irish coast and each time held has seen the very best of conditions on one of the most idyllic beaches in Ireland.
For a cost of only 180 euro per team, this is most certainly not a beach tag day to be missed!
