Quarter-Final Draw Sets Up Tullamore-Monivea Rematch
Today’s draw for the quarter-final stage of the Ulster Bank All-Ireland Junior Cup has paired together the finalists from last season’s competition, Tullamore and Monivea.
Tullamore beat Monivea 9-3 thanks to three drop goals from three different players during the 2011/12 Ulster Bank All-Ireland Junior Cup decider last February.
The clubs will meet again next month in a mouth-watering quarter-final tie, with the Offaly club, the only side to win the competition on two occasions so far, having home advantage.
This is the second repeat of a final pairing in this season’s All-Ireland Junior Cup – Monivea reached the last-eight after beating Crosshaven 25-16 in a repeat of the 2011 final.
Clogher Valley’s reward for edging past Coolmine is another home tie with Leinster opposition, this time Newbridge will be the visitors to the Cran.
Fresh from beating Ballina 32-14 in the first round, Donaghadee will venture further south to take on an Enniscorthy side that overcame Skibbereen in their cup opener.
Cooke, 40-24 winners at OLBC last time out, face a road trip to Cork for a quarter-final date with Kanturk who overcame one of last season’s semi-finalists, Westport, on a 35-7 scoreline.
All of the Junior Cup quarter-final matches will be played on Saturday, December 15, kicking off at 2.30pm.
