It will bee a Dublin-Cork clash next Saturday morning in the inaugural IURU Women’s Intervarsity final when Dublin University host UCC at College Park (kick-off 11am).
Reigning CUSAI Intervarsity champions UCC, led by captain Mona Feehily, bring a strong side to face Tara Deans’ young Dublin University team in this eagerly-anticipated final on Saturday.
The popularity of Women’s rugby within the Irish University Rugby Union clubs has grown dramatically over the last number of years.
It is hoped that the introduction of this competition will support on-going efforts to further increase the number of women playing rugby in Universities right across Ireland.
The IURU cordially invite everyone who may be in Dublin city centre before the Ireland v Argentina match to drop along to College Park at 11am and enjoy the first of many Kay Bowen trophy finals.
The Kay Bowen trophy is named in honour of Kay Bowen, past President of Dublin University Football Club.
The Irish Universities Rugby Union is the representative organisation of University Rugby Union clubs in Ireland. Member clubs include UCD, DUFC, UCC, QUB and NUIG.
The IURU would also like to wish Queen’s University best of luck in their Women’s All-Ireland League Division 1 play-off this Sunday against Portlaoise.
